Community Centre in Summerhill in Co. Meath

We are a Community Centre in Summerhill in Co. Meath. We had an old double skin asbestos roof on the building, which was not energy efficient to say the least. We had a lot of complaints about the cold in the hall. In 2012 we decided to look into replacing the roof with something more energy efficient and cost effective. As we are a voluntary Committee we find it difficult at times to fundraise. We received a quote from Gravity, which we thought very fair and the most important thing was P J was always at the end of the phone to answer any of our queries. He gave us a timescale of works to start beginning of August 2015. We couldn’t close the Centre completely and also we have a crèche on the grounds which couldn’t close for two weeks so Gravity agreed to do most of the asbestos removal at the weekends. The work was completed to the highest standard within and time frame agreed The grounds outside were kept neat and tidy at all times. Inside the building was hoovered every evening. All the asbestos was wrapped and removed from site each Monday morning. The Health and Safety Authority inspected the site and were happy that al the regulations were being adhered to. When the work was complete we got an independent specialist company to check for any asbestos dust and they found everything in order. Gravity were most helpful and worked long hours to get the job finished. We have found that the insulation & heat retention in the building has greatly improved since the job was completed. We would have no hesitation in recommending Gravity for any work of this nature.

A storm in February 2014 led to our asbestos roof receiving extensive damage. After lengthy committee meeting’s, I contacted a number of asbestos contractors. During this processes it was clear that Gravity Construction were the most competent contractor plus the fact they were a one stop shop for all of the works involved, it made our decision to go with them even more attractive. From the minute we contracted PJ and his crew it seamless project. Our committee were extremely pleased with craftsmanship and attention to detail from every member of Gravity. During the project PJ was regularly on site and always available on the phone to ensure that we were happy with the progress. Gravity didn’t leave any stone unturned during the project to ensure the project finished safely, on time and within budget. The project was an absolute credit to Gravity when you take all this into account while also allowing for the emphasise that was put on the safety of the public in such a vibrant area throughout the project For all the above outlined, we could not recommend PJ and Gravity Construction highly enough.

Reliance Precision Manufacturing  (Ireland) Limited

We are a precision engineering company based in West Cork. We have always found it impossible to keep the building at a comfortable temperature during winter months. The biggest heat loss was through the double skin asbestos the roof, some of which was over 40 years old.
Back in mid-2011 we decided to obtain quotes for the replacement of the entire with 80 mm King span cladding. We could not afford to close the factory down whileroof this work was been carried out so the work had be scheduled for the weekends only. We obtained 3 quotes for the work, one company went out of business within weeks of quoting, and the other 2 were more expensive and did not seem too 4 keen. PJ heard through the grapevine that we were interested in replacing the roof. received his quote within 2 weeks and he said that working at the weekend was I not a problem for his team. I checked his references which were all very complitmentary.
We changed our working week to finish on Thursday evening and this gave team almost 3 full days on site per week. On Thursday evening we would sheet PJ’s over the machines to protect them from the asbestos dust and any falling debris. Sunday evening Gravity would remove all of the contaminated sheeting and On vacuum the work area clean ready for us to start work on Monday morning.
The first section of the building was completed within the agreed time frame. standard of work was very good. The Health and Safety Authority visited the site The and was very happy that all of the regulations were been adhered to. The second phase was carried out almost 10 months later with the same degree of efficiency. The site was always left clean and tidy; all of the waste material was sheeted and stored for removal off site when the roof was finished.
Once the job was completed we employed a specialist company to check that all the asbestos dust had been removed to the required standard. After re-cleaning of two small areas the building was signed off as fully compliant.
Due to improved insulation within the building and standard of finishing we did not have to run the heating within the factory at all last year. We now have a much improved work shop area that all of our staff are very happy with,
PJ Mooney and Gravity Construction did an excellent job. We found them to be very helpful and accommodating throughout the whole project. I would have no hesitation in recommending them for this type of work.
